Scholar · five machines

Five FFXIV Scholar mechanics drawn as bench machines. Each figure runs a short tour on its own; press its buttons (or focus it and use the keys named in its label) to drive it yourself.

Seated shield plates: Galvanize (and Catalyze on a critical)Shield holders on rams, linked by the deployment shaft up to the range stopA shield press as the Scholar's Deployment Tactics in FFXIV. Adloquium stamps a Galvanize plate into one pawn's slot (here the Scholar's own). Pull the Recitation lever first and the stamp is a critical: a bigger Galvanize plus a Catalyze plate in front of it; the lever drops back once it is used. Deployment Tactics turns the shaft along the back rail, and every holder coupled to it lowers a copy of the target's Galvanize, critical size included, but never the Catalyze. The shaft ends at the range stop, so the pawn beyond it gets nothing.
An Aetherflow stack being spent, and the last cup it went toMagazine of stacks, sorting trough, five cups, Faerie Gauge dialAn orb sorter as the Scholar's Aetherflow in FFXIV. The Aetherflow pump lifts orbs into the magazine until it holds three stacks. Spending one drops the bottom orb out onto the trough, where the gate you pick sends it into a cup: Lustrate (one target), Indomitability (the party), Sacred Soil (a patch of ground), Excogitation (a delayed heal on one target), or Energy Drain (damage instead of healing). Every orb spent also moves the Faerie Gauge dial up 10, but only while the fairy is out. Dissipation sends the fairy down into her housing and lifts orbs out of it in her place until the magazine is full again; she comes back up when it wears off, and orbs spent while she is away add nothing to the gauge.
Gauge collar, and the Fey Union tether with its heal beadAetherflow magazine, graduated gauge column, fairy perch, HP columnsA graduated column as the Scholar's Faerie Gauge in FFXIV. Every Aetherflow stack you spend (Lustrate, Indomitability, Sacred Soil, Excogitation, Energy Drain) drops into the funnel and lifts the collar one mark, 10 of the 100. Aetherpact starts Fey Union: the fairy tethers one party member, here the tank, and the gauge drains 10 a tick while each tick heals them. The tether holds until the gauge runs dry, the target strays out of range, or you dissolve it.
The figure out front, ready Consolation charges, Seraphic Veil barriersClockwork turntable, charge rack, 22 s timer dial, party HP columnsA clockwork turntable as the Scholar's Summon Seraph in FFXIV. Summoning winds the platter half a turn: Seraph comes out front and Eos is parked at the back, and the dial starts running down Seraph's 22 seconds. While Seraph is out, each Consolation cartridge on the rack can be fired: it heals the whole party and puts up a barrier (Seraphic Veil) equal to the heal. Consolation holds two charges. When the dial runs out the platter turns back and Eos returns. Seraphism, the level 100 action, is left out.
Critical hits (lit, larger), the engaged Chain Stratagem gear and stamp headsFour party lanes, crit gate bridge, gear train, boss block with crit-rate dialA crit gate as the Scholar's Chain Stratagem in FFXIV. Every party member's hits roll down their own lane to the boss, and each passes under the gate, where some come out as crits. Chain Stratagem is a debuff on the boss, not a buff on anyone: it drops an extra gear into the train for 20 seconds, and the gate turns 10% more of every lane's hits into crits, whoever threw them. Using it also grants Impact Imminent, which lets the Scholar drive in Baneful Impaction, a damage-over-time spike, within 30 seconds. The base crit rate here is illustrative.
